Lovewell Blake takes Sporting Challenge Trophy as 12 professional firms raise £2,400 for charity
30 November 2011
Lovewell Blake has triumphed over 11 other professional firms over a gruelling seven month sporting challenge – helping to raise £2,400 for bereaved children’s charity Nelson’s Journey in the process.
The accountants took the trophy in the second annual Arnolds Sports Challenge, which saw solicitors, bankers, architects, and property consultants, doing battle in netball, tag rugby, canoeing, pool, rounders, darts, a city adventure race, ten-pin bowling and a quiz finale.
Property firm Targetfollow took second place, with bankers HSBC in bronze medal position.
The Arnolds Sports Challenge was established by Norwich property firm Arnolds to offer a combination of networking and social activity for professionals across Norwich, and to raise money for its charity of the year, which for 2011/12 is Nelson’s Journey.
The trophy was presented to Lovewell Blake by Arnolds managing partner Guy Gowing after the final event, a pub quiz, where the amount raised - £2,400 – was also announced.
Arnolds Sporting Challenge co-ordinator Craig Knights said that the series of events had helped forge friendships as well as business relationships amongst 12 of the city’s leading professional firms.
“Networking is such an important part of business nowadays, so we decided that we should try and inject some fun into the process, as well as the opportunity to indulge in a little exercise, at the same time as raising money for a local good cause.
“For the second year running the Challenge has been a great success, and we look forward to the third Challenge in 2012.”
Nelson’s Journey is a Norwich-based charity which supports children and young people under the age of 18 years, living in Norfolk, who have experienced the death of a significant person in their life such as a parent or sibling. Staff at Arnolds chose the charity as its annual good cause earlier this year.
