Dental matters: Superannuation contributions

By: Richard Keeler Date: 25 October 2019
Category: Dental

It is important that you check the superannuable pay that is reported on your end of year certificate agrees with your actual NHS earnings from the practices you work at.

The problem is that many principals aren’t necessarily aware of current legislation on the matter and do not in some instances adopt the NHS guidance that is available.

A common misconception is that gross pensionable earnings for an associate is 43.9% of the associate’s gross fees generated. In fact the correct pensionable earnings calculation is remarkably simple. Associate pensionable earnings is equal to the amount payable to the associate in respect of NHS work carried out in the year.

If you have any queries with regards to superannuation the team have many years of experience in dealing with calculation reviews for our clients.
