Football-mad Aylsham youngsters have a new name on their shirts

A team of football-mad youngsters in Aylsham will be taking to the pitch with a new name on their shirts this season – after signing up a new sponsor.

AFC Aylsham Under 9s have teamed up with chartered accountants and financial planners Lovewell Blake for the new season, with the firm supporting the expenses of running the team, including the new kit.

The 7-a-side team, based at Youngs Park in the town, plays in the North Norfolk league, taking on other sides from around the county. Players live in Aylsham and surrounding villages.

“The support from local companies such as Lovewell Blake is so important for these youth teams,” said Under 9s coach Olly Adams. “Not only does it pay for the kit the team plays in, but it shows them that what they do is valued by the local community.

“Getting youngsters onto the football pitch teaches them teamwork and social skills, as well as helping them keep fit – and it gets them away from the computer for a couple of hours!”

Lovewell Blake manager Richard Gedge, who is from Aylsham himself, and is treasurer and finance director of AFC Aylsham, added, “This is a real community club, and it’s a real pleasure to support it, and in particular its younger members. We’re looking forward to supporting them throughout the season.”
