Graham Walker, Compliance Director for Lovewell Blake Financial Planning Limited, has a warning about pension scams

Pension scam warning

By: Graham Walker Date: 14 August 2018
Category: Article

In the news recently has been the disappointing story of innocent pension scheme members being ripped off by criminals, there is no other way to describe them.

The advice from Graham Walker, Compliance Director for Lovewell Blake Financial Planning Limited, is; 'if you receive a call, out of the blue by a company or individual unknown to you, put the phone down'.

A legitimate adviser would not cold call you as they would be in breach of the new GDPR rules and could be reported to the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) and fined. Clearly the criminal is not concerned by this, which in itself rings alarm bells.

If you do want retirement or pension advice, details of Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) registered companies and individuals can be found here.

Be vigilant and speak to a number of different advisers before proceeding with any financial decision that could have a major impact upon your retirement security. If you have any concerns then please do not hesitate to contact us.
