Student loans for the self-employed

By: Susanne Spalding Date: 17 December 2019
Category: Article

The BBC announced in August that over £28 million of student loan repayments had not been allocated to student loan accounts.

As a self employed individual, if your income exceeds £19,000, then potentially an annual repayment is due and this needs to be disclosed on your self assessment tax return.

You should check this repayment from your tax calculation to your student loan account to ensure the repayment has been allocated correctly.

If you wish for any further guidance on this, please speak to one of the team.
