Since the pandemic hit in March 2020, the Charity Commission have offered filing extensions to charities who have been unable to meet their filing deadlines for COVID-19 related reasons. These extensions have had no fixed end date.

The Charity Commission have now advised that due to the easing of restrictions, all such extensions will apply up until 30 September 2021 and that charities should meet their filing commitments by that date. They will be contacting affected charities to advise them of this.

From now until 30 September, charities may still apply for a filing extension if the effects of the pandemic are still delaying their ability to meet their filing deadlines, however these will be fixed 3-month extensions. Charities can apply here.
