GDPR - Will you be prepared?
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will apply in the UK from 25 May 2018, its purpose is intended to strengthen and unify data protection of all individuals within the EU. Whilst we are still in the middle of Brexit negotiations, the UK will still be a member of the EU in May 2018 and will need to comply with the rules of the regulation.
Businesses of all sizes, from sole traders to large multi-nationals, will need to ensure compliance with GDPR from 25 May. For some this will be a relatively straight forward process, for others it will be a lengthy and costly exercise. The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) has some extremely helpful information on their website including a 12-step guide on the steps to take now. We urge you to review the requirements of the GDPR and to start your journey to becoming compliant.
