Lovewell Blake’s LB150 Fund, which has handed out more than £275,000 to community groups in Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire since it was set up in 2008, gave a £1,558 grant to Great Yarmouth Cricket Club to allow the club to purchase the new sight screens – in readiness for the new Norfolk One League that commences in 2022.
The firm has also stepped in to become kit sponsor of all the club’s teams, providing ongoing support.
The team is currently fourth in Division 2E of the league, having won seven of the nine matches it has completed so far in the season.
“We are an active supporter of grassroots sport right across our region, and we particularly like to support our staff where they are involved with community groups – two members of our Great Yarmouth office play at the club,” said Gary Flatt, partner at Lovewell Blake with responsibility for fundraising and the LB150 Fund.
“The groups that our LB150 Fund supports are the ones which bind our communities together, and they are the inspiration for our staff and partners to undertake fundraising activities throughout the year.”
The LB150 Fund was originally set up in 2008 as part of the firm’s 150th anniversary celebrations, with the aim of raising £150,000 for local charities and community groups in five years. Once the target was achieved, the firm decided to continue the fund, and to date it has raised over £275,000 since its foundation.
