Your Retirement Experience

Planning for the future is vital to ensure that you get the very best out of your retirement.

Lovewell Blake Financial Planning Limited has put together a guide for those approaching retirement – Your retirement experience – with a range of financial areas that you need to think about when planning for the next phase of your life.

The document looks at:
  • the state pension
  • Individual Savings Accounts (ISAs)
  • care home fees
  • taxation
  • personal pension options

Recent changes to the pension rules mean that you are able to be quite flexible with your savings. Options include:
  • leaving your pension funds untouched
  • buying an annuity
  • flexi-access drawdown
  • taking small cash sums from your pension fund
  • taking your whole pension fund as cash
  • mixing your options

As well as getting your financial plans in order, you need to think about the emotional and practical side of your planning. This will give yourself the best chance at a happy and fulfilling retirement.

Let’s start by looking at the questions you should ask yourself to get a sense of your future plans:

  • what useful and interesting activities can I add to my new daily regime?
  • what interests and passions did I never have time for when I was at work?
  • what really interested me when I was younger and have never fully pursued?
  • what am I curious about and interested in?
  • what interests do I share with my partner?
  • what have I always felt I’d like to do if I had the time?
  • what talent do I have that I’ve never explored? Singing? Dancing? Writing?

There is a lot to think about when it comes to getting the most out of your retirement, and you may not yet have all of the answers, Lovewell Blake Financial Planning Limited can help with many of the financial aspects of your planning.
