We are delighted to welcome Jason Cantrill and Katie Crawford of Ceres Rural as our speakers at our April Farmers Evening.

They will discuss the performance of pigs and poultry, which have an important influence on local demand for grain in East Anglia. They will look back at the performance of predominately arable farming businesses over the past 3 years including the highs and lows, and what makes the best performing businesses more resilient. They will briefly discuss the performance of pigs and poultry which have an important influence on local demand for grain in East Anglia.

We will look forward to harvest 2024 and consider the opportunities available to farming businesses to ride the storm of the climate, economic and market forces. This will include a look at maximise grant opportunities currently available to the sector and what to look out for going forward.

Jason specialises in the management of farms, the formation of contract farming and joint venture agreements. He provides strategic advice to a range of farming businesses and advises on compulsory purchase schemes and landlord and tenant matters.

Jason is a qualified Chartered Surveyor, RICS Registered Valuer and agricultural valuer. He graduated from Harper Adams University with a degree in Rural Enterprise and Land Management.

Jason sits on the steering committee of the Norfolk Federation of Young Farmers Club, and is a keen follower of national hunt racing and enjoys spending time driving his classic Ford 7810 tractor, particularly during harvest helping friends.

Katie has a keen interest in the natural environment and enjoys combining her interests in regenerative farming systems with her advisory role.

Katie graduated from the University of York in 2020 with an Honours degree in Environmental Science. Since then Katie has specialised in Environmental Stewardship, including the preparation and management of applications and agreements. She has recently obtained her BASIS qualification and is BETA Conservation Management Environmental qualified.

Outside of work Katie enjoys being outdoors as much as possible, often following her father round the family farm. Most weekends she can be found on a hockey pitch over winter, or on a beach in the summer.

Arrival for the event is as normal, 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start. The Lovewell Blake agriculture team will be there from 7pm if you want to get there early! There will also be a free buffet afterwards and plenty of time to catch up.
