Our team of specialists works with you to ensure you are fully compliant, structured in the most strategic way and making your submissions on time. The strategic side of the business can often be overlooked in favour of a compliance only approach, but in the construction sector more than many others there is much to be gained from a structured approach to your business set-up.
The structure of your business is crucial - consider separating the risk of developments into different companies and keeping developments and contractor services separate.
Our Partners and personal tax consultants can also advise you on the individual aspects of your affairs such as income from personal lettings, planning for retirement, Inheritance Tax strategies and even the use of SIPP's and other pension provisions through Lovewell Blake Financial Planning. If you have income from property lettings, consider our Landlords section for further guidance.

We pride ourselves on providing individually tailored services to our clients. Whatever your aspirations and priorities in business and life, we will be by your side with expert advice from local specialists. It is because your needs are unique, that the solutions we provide are distinct and personalised to you.

FAQs
Why does a construction company need an accountant?
Construction companies can very easily generate accounting profits, on which tax will be due, whilst cashflow remains tight. By the nature of the work done, profits may not equate into cash until the end of a project but without consideration of work in progress valuations, you could need to pay tax earlier. And don't forget that you will need to report your trading performance to HMRC annually, which will reuqire accounts and a tax return.
Can Lovewell Blake offer my construction business financial risk advice?
Yes, we can advise on whether you should strcuture your business in a limited company or as an unincorproated entity. A limited company can provide an extra layer of legal protection, but be careful to undersand the extent of this protection and the additional costs involved with opperating a company. Take time to ask questions and fully understand this crucial area of business ownership.
What can Lovewell Blake offer my construction company that other accountants cannot?
Our Partners will be your main point of contact, responsible for your affairs and getting to know you and your business. Unlike other local firms with a similar approach, though, our Partners have access to our teams of tax specialists. Maybe you have a complex enquiry on SDLT or VAT. Or maybe you want to strucure your properties with inheritance tax in mind, our Partners are supported by experts in their field whilst still providing the personal service you expect from Lovewell Blake.
