Why did you choose Financial Planning?

I chose Financial Planning as I have an interest in money and investing. Before I started here, I used to mess around with buying and selling different stocks on the stock market and just being intrigued with all the different ways people can use their money for different purposes. There were so many different products and providers out there and thought it would be an interesting sector to work in.

Why did you choose Lovewell Blake?

I chose LB because they are one of the largest Independent Financial Adviser firms in the area. Over the years I have seen my uncle who is now a Financial Adviser here move up and progress through the different areas of the business, therefore I thought they would be a suitable company as they support their employees to progress through their career. I also completed my work experience here back in 2016 (I think – was a long time ago!) which gave me an eye opener into the day-to-day experience of working here, which also made me feel more comfortable when I eventually got employed here.

What is your role at Lovewell Blake?

Since joining back in May 2021, my job role has already undertaken a few changes. I came in as an Apprentice on the CII Financial Services Administrator course. Whilst completing my apprenticeship, I took on the job role of the Office Administration Assistant. In this role, my overall target was to ensure the smooth running of the office. This included things such as managing Incoming and Outgoing Post, being the first port of call on the phones, keeping enough stock of paper and stationary etc. After about a year whilst I was still on my apprenticeship, I started my training to become an Administrator. Whilst completing my apprenticeship and continuing my Administration Assistant job, I had to learn all these new tasks which at first was difficult to manage as it was a change in my day-to-day routine. However, it wasn’t long until we had someone new join to take my Administration Assistant job role off my hands, and allow me to focus fully on my new training – which I have now completed!

Why do you enjoy your job role?

I enjoy my role as every day is different. You never know what emails or work you will walk into each day, whether that be from a colleague or a client. A lot of the time this requires you to think on your feet and ensure that you are prioritising the right work at the right time. Whenever work loads become high, as a team we ensure that we help each other out to make sure no one is struggling with the pressures of getting work done by themselves. This is nice as you don’t feel that you are left alone to potentially struggle, as there are always people there to help. I also like the fact that I am learning new things every day as the Financial Services Sector is ever changing – whether that be new products or new regulations which changes the way we work.
