After substantial growth in the past few years a local business constructed a warehouse to operate from at a cost of £600,000 plus VAT. The business continued to grow and operate from the warehouse for just over three years and decided it was time to move on and find even larger premises to expand the business.
Unknowingly, had the business sold the property without appropriate VAT planning they would have had to repay some of the £120,000 VAT incurred on the construction costs due to a piece of legislation known as the Capital Goods Scheme. Fortunately, we were able to identify this and plan accordingly to avoid having to repay a substantial amount of VAT.
