Richard Meredith, head of research at Dyson Farming will be outlining how his organisation integrates experimentation, data, engineering and practical farming to test ideas, challenge assumptions and deliver evidence‑led improvements in food production, sustainability and efficiency.
He will explain how combining rigorous research and real-world conditions can help produce better food while farming in harmony with the environment through a focus on ‘learning by doing’ – from regenerative systems and precision inputs, to robotics, AI and circular energy use.
Mr Meredith is head of research at Dyson Farming, where he leads the company’s research and innovation programme across its farming operations. He is responsible for shaping research strategy, translating on‑farm challenges into practical trials, and ensuring research activity delivers clear, commercial value for the business.
He manages Dyson Farming’s 1,000‑acre dedicated research farm, using it as a real‑world testbed to trial new technologies, agronomic approaches, and farming systems at scale. His focus is on applied research that can be proven, refined, and confidently adopted within commercial farming operations.
Lovewell Blake agricultural partner Ryan Lincoln, who will be chairing the event, said, “Farmers hear a lot about what scientists are achieving in research and development, but it can sometimes be difficult to make a link between that scientific discovery and practical applications on the farm itself.
“Richard’s focus on ‘learning by doing’ brings an engaging and accessible link between what is happening in the laboratory and the benefits it can bring in a practical way on the farm, and his presentation is sure to be thought-provoking and practical.”
The event takes place at Halesworth Golf club on Wednesday 6th May at 7.15pm, and the presentation will be followed by a buffet supper. Attendance is free, but places need to be booked in advance. To book your place, please click here.
